About IMS

Establishment

The Faculty of International Maritime has been established to meet the needs and solutions of the entire maritime system and support the government policies that increase the Sea Power and the potential of the country’s maritime trade. Develop the high ability maritime personnel for the domestic and foreign organization that the demand tends to increase by expanding maritime trade, through the cooperation with various department Both inside and outside the university. The first name was “International Maritime Institute”, And later, the University Council approved the name change to “International Maritime Faculty” On September 22, 2014.

Timeline from past to present

The year 2000

  • The International Maritime Institute was established.
  • Prepare a course for B.Eng. (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering)

The year 2001

  • Has been approved to operate the courses of B.Eng. (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering)
  • Start teaching Bachelor of Engineering Program in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering to belong to Faculty of Engineering Kasetsart University Sriracha

The year 2002

  • Approved by the Kasetsart University Council in the meeting no.5 / 2002 on the 20th. May 2002 and Resolutions of the University Ministries Committee Meeting No.3 / 2002 on 23.May 2002 to establish the International Maritime Studies as a department in Kasetsart University

The year 2006

Kasetsart University council announces that the International Maritime Institute has the same status as the Faculty of Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus on 2006 December 15.

  • Improve the curriculum of B.Eng. (Engineering Program in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering)
  • Improve the curriculum of Science Program in Nautical Science

The year 2014

  • Operate the course of Science Program in Maritime Transportation

Development Policy

International Maritime Studies has operated under the development policy of the Faculty of intentional maritime in the past four years (June 17 2016 – June 16 2020), which has been approved by the council of Kasetsart University on meeting no. 7/2015 (July 27 2015) and meeting of the board of development policy determination in Kasetsart university by the meeting no.11/2015 on July 6 2015. Covering by the five strategies including Education, Research, Academic service, Culture maintaining and Management. in order to perform the self-identity and quality standardization of International Maritime Studies to be globalized

Education

There has been a development of courses for teaching in the field of commerce. With quality according to international standards, Promote and develop students' learning skills both academically and professionally following the needs of domestic and international labour markets.
